Terms of Service
Version: 2026-10-31 · Effective: 31 October 2026
Welcome to GuitarHub. By accessing our website, creating an account, or using our 3D configuration software, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.
1. Platform Services and Role as Intermediary
GuitarHub provides digital platform software and 3D visualization tools enabling customers to design custom guitars and submit build specifications.
GuitarHub acts strictly as an intermediary connecting customers to independent master luthiers and custom workshops. We transmit your design specifications, facilitate communications, host progress updates and build photos, and manage staged payment processing on behalf of independent builders. GuitarHub is neither the manufacturer nor the seller of the physical instruments; the independent luthier or workshop building your custom instrument is the seller of record.
2. Customer Accounts & Passwordless Authentication
To access order tracking, timeline milestones, and build photos, you access your account through our passwordless authentication system:
- Passwordless Email Authentication: Sign-in is verified through single-use verification codes sent directly to your registered email address. No passwords are created or stored.
- Customer Responsibility for Email Access: You are solely responsible for maintaining control, confidentiality, and security of the email account used to authenticate your session, as well as any verification codes received.
- 30-Day Sliding Session: Authenticated sessions are preserved through an HTTP-only, secure session cookie (
gh_session) with a 30-day sliding window, refreshing automatically during active use of the platform.
3. Staged Payment Process
Custom instrument orders follow a clear process with a deposit hold and one payment:
- Deposit Hold ($49): An initial $49 deposit is required to reserve your build slot in the queue and begin consultation. It is a hold (authorization) on your payment card, not a charge. It is released when you pay for the guitar, or automatically after 7 days if the order details are not confirmed, and can be released at your request at any time before the final payment. The deposit is not deducted from the final payment. Before the deposit is placed you tick a box confirming that you understand the $49 is a refundable hold on your card, not a charge, and that the final price comes after the luthier reviews your design.
- Custom Specification and Pricing: Our partner workshop and luthiers review your 3D design, confirm component feasibility, and establish the custom specification and final pricing.
- Review and Approval: Before the final payment we show you a summary of your design, the price (guitar, shipping and total), the estimated build time and the fact that the $49 hold is released when you pay. You then confirm three statements: that you have checked your design and the specification is what you want built; that you understand your guitar is custom-made to your specification and, once you pay, cannot be returned for a change of mind (see the Refund Policy); and that you agree to these Terms and the Refund Policy.
- Final Payment Prior to Manufacturing: Prior to physical manufacturing, one final invoice for the full price of the guitar plus shipping is issued and paid securely via Stripe on our dedicated billing host (
billing.guitarhub.store). You enter your name, phone number and delivery address at that checkout. Once the final invoice is paid, materials are procured and physical construction begins.
Frozen specification. When you continue to payment, the design and price you approved are saved as a numbered version of your specification. Your maker builds that version. If the design or the price changes afterwards, the change is saved as a new version and applies to your order only when you approve it again.
Record of your agreement. To be able to show what you agreed to, we keep a record of your confirmations: the time, your IP address and browser details, the version of these Terms and of the Refund Policy that was shown to you, and the specification version you approved. Stripe also records your acceptance of the terms at checkout.
4. Intellectual Property & Compatibility Disclaimer
All brand names, body shapes, and model designations referenced on this platform are used solely for descriptive and compatibility purposes.
GuitarHub is NOT affiliated, associated, authorized, endorsed by, or in any way officially connected with Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, Gibson Brands, Inc., or any of their respective subsidiaries or affiliates.
Terms such as "S-Style" and "T-Style" refer to generic, industry-standard form factors and do not imply any association with original trademark owners.
5. 3D Visualization and Physical Materials
Our 3D configurator provides a digital visual representation of your custom guitar. You acknowledge and agree that:
- Wood and Natural Materials: Tone woods are natural organic materials. Grain patterns, mineral streaks, density, and natural color variations are unique to each piece of wood. The completed instrument will exhibit its own natural character and will not be an exact pixel-for-pixel match to the digital rendering.
- Colors and Finishes: Screen colors vary depending on display calibration and ambient lighting. Finished lacquer and paint may appear subtly different under natural light compared to digital screens.
6. Limitation of Liability
Because GuitarHub acts as a software platform and intermediary:
- Manufacturing & Shipping: Physical craftsmanship, build delays, shipping damages, and workshop logistics remain the direct responsibility of the independent workshop or delivery carrier.
- Transit Insurance & Signature: Your guitar is shipped with a tracking number. We aim to ship each guitar insured for its value and with a signature required on delivery; the insured value and the signature requirement are recorded for each shipment. Please inspect the package on arrival and report any damage as set out in the Refund Policy.
- Customs, Taxes & Duties: International customers are solely responsible for import duties, customs tariffs, VAT, or local taxes levied by destination customs authorities.
- Maximum Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GuitarHub's aggregate liability arising out of or related to your use of the platform shall not exceed the total deposit and service fees actually paid by you to GuitarHub for the specific order in dispute.
7. Production Estimates & Force Majeure
Handcrafted custom instruments require substantial time and precision. By ordering, you acknowledge that:
- Estimates Only: Quoted production timelines (e.g., 2–12 months, depending on the complexity of your design) are estimates and do not represent binding delivery deadlines.
- Force Majeure: Neither GuitarHub nor partner workshops are liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control, including natural disasters, material supply shortages, shipping carrier delays, or trade disruptions.
8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms and any agreement between you and GuitarHub shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Ireland (European Union), without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts of Ireland.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted to this page with a new version number and effective date. The version shown to you when you confirm your order applies to that order; continued use of the platform following any modifications constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
