Payments & refunds

Know the terms before you commit. Your card is charged once: for the guitar and shipping.

Step 1

$49 deposit hold

The $49 deposit is a hold on your card, not a charge. It's released when you pay for the guitar, or automatically after 7 days.

Step 2

Final price + shipping

After the maker reviews your design and names the price and timing. You pay the full amount once; the $49 hold is not deducted.

Before the final payment

You can change your mind at any time before you make the final payment. Write to us and the $49 hold on your card is released.

The deposit is never charged: it is an authorisation on your card. If we cannot agree the details of your order within 7 days, the hold expires and is released automatically.

After the final payment

Your guitar is made to your specification, so once the final payment is made the order cannot be cancelled and the payment is non-refundable. Materials are bought for your build alone.

This is the custom-goods exception in EU law (Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(c)): the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to goods made to the buyer's specification.

Your rights for defects and transit damage stay in place. See Warranty & care.

Who you pay

GuitarHub is an intermediary: we process the payments on behalf of the independent maker who builds and sells your guitar.
